What is Wi-Fi LAN?
Wi-Fi technology enables wireless Local Area Network (LAN) access to
virtually any Wi-Fi enabled device: Laptop computers, PDAs and remote
fixed PCs without a fixed wire!
A wireless LAN consists of a series of Access Points which give a certain
area coverage of radio signals that allow Wi-Fi Cards in Laptops or PCs to
access whatever network the Access Points are connected to.
Who uses Wi-Fi LANs?
- Offices and organisations - Wi-Fi wireless networks are useful in
organisations or office environments where mobile users work in places beyond
their desks such as multiple-office workers, temporary workers, and
contractors.
- Client-based Professionals – would walk into their head office and simply
connect to their network with no necessary cabling, and can connect seemlessly
at any client location which is also Wi-Fi enabled.
- Visitors – visitors (clients or regular professionals) could get limited
and secured access to Internet or any other network files you would like to
share with them.
The wireless network provides access to e-mail, Internet, files on servers,
printers, etc. as laptop users roam throughout the building. Our additional
support allows you to control and secure access to different parts of your
network, for different users. Other benefits include: Cost-efficient (no
cabling, no wiring, no pipes through walls), rapid deployment, increased staff
mobility, productivity and responsiveness.
